Who is Schoeme?
Schoemé is a South African actor, puppeteer, writer, drama teacher, director and founder of PuppeTrix; a theatre company specializing in theatre for 0 to 6 year olds. During her Drama and Theatre Arts studies she came to love theatre for young audiences. For her, the honesty and authenticity that lies within an audience of youngsters, can rarely be found elsewhere in theatre.
This honesty and authenticity give artists like herself the immense privilege to tap into a magical world of endless possibilities. Within those possibilities she wants to create meaningful work of quality for youngsters and their caregivers. Apart from South African festivals and performances in kindergartens, in 2018 she had the privilege to perform in Italy at Festival Visioni.
“I didn’t want to leave.”
“As a Speech and Language Therapist, I could not get enough of the wonderful way Babah made use of language and intonation patterns to stimulate and mesmerize the little ones.”
