“Archipelago is a touching tale about the relationship between a parent and a child told through music, dance and poetic words. It is an island of wonder, everything a young child experiences – family, life, birth and independence.”

Ruby Lim-Yang
Artistic Director
ACT 3 International

Archipelago

ACT 3 International

Singapore

For 2 to 5 years
May 22 to May 25, 2018
ACT 3 Drama Academy Room 4
Running Time: 40 minutes

Archipelago is about a tiny little island born from a group of larger islands, an archipelago. Curious like a child, it separates from its mother island and goes on a journey of exploration and discovery.

As it journeys, it comes face to face with the elements – the blue sea, the boats, the fish, the trees, the moon and the stars, the mountain and the bridges that reach out. In its journey, it learns to be independent yet never forgetting the archipelago where it all began – an island amongst islands.

Archipelago will steer all on a passage of joy, love and connections.
Told through a combination of dance, movement, music, and poetic text, it is about family, life, birth and independence.

Crikecrak

La Baracca – Testoni Ragazzi

Italy

For 1 to 3 years
May 29 to June 3, 2018
ACT 3 Drama Academy Room
Running Time: 60 minutes

Here’s a new story about Piccololorso and his baby sister.

Crikecrak, a nut cracks. Crikecrak, a branch in the woods breaks… Because this story is about nuts and woods, and once again, it begins with a cake and a birthday party. No, actually two birthday parties: Mammalorsa’s and Babbolorso’s.

«Where can we find the nuts and chestnuts for the cake?» asks Piccolalorsa.
«In the woods!».
«But I am afraid to go into the woods, it’s so dark!».
«We’ll go together!
And don’t worry, everybody’s afraid of something…».

So, nuts and chestnuts are replaced by the true protagonist of the story: fear. The woods are frightening, darkness is frightening… each of us has their own fear. And today, the two bears will have to face an entirely new fear: rumour has it that foreign animals have arrived from the bordering lands. The wild boars have come! Many terrible things are said about the wild boars…

Who is La Baracca – Testoni Ragazzi?

Founded in 1976, La Baracca has spent the last 40 years working in the field of theatre for children and early years.

The company’s productions are addressed exclusively to children and young people, and they are centred on actors theatre and on an original theatrical style. Over the years, they have developed a poetics aimed at generating amazement, trying to pursue simplicity intended as essentiality, always paying special attention to the relationship with the audience.

To date, La Baracca has produced over 245 shows for children and young people, with more than 12,900 performances.

It grows and glows in the sunshine and the rain
Then the wind blows and it becomes colder
The leaf changes colour
In the snow, the leaf falls…
But when spring comes, a new leaf grows…

Join us as we tell the life story of a very special leaf in this warm, intimate and playful new piece for under 3s inspired by nature and the seasons. Framed within an evocative soundscape, this is the perfect introduction to theatre for the very young.

At the end of the performance, children are invited onto the stage to play among the leaves and explore a landscape created by the changing seasons.

ACT 3i Festival Sweet

By | ACT3 iFestival for Children | No Comments

“We are transforming the ION Art Gallery space into a stimulating environment where we want to take children on a journey of different levels. On one level, it is about desserts to inspire art-making. Then, on another level, it is about learning kindness, being giving, and thoughtfulness, and here is where we incorporate the story of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to tell the story of a poor boy who had nothing but gave everything of himself. Lastly, the level where we leave children with an awareness to watch what they eat, especially sweet things.”

Taking place daily from 24 May to 5 June 2016 at the centrally-located Drama Centre, our new festival is about well-crafted as well as ground-breaking work that is thought-provoking for both parent and child. The ultimate aim is to give young audiences a unique and memorable experience that is different from broad-based children’s entertainment to enrich their lives through Arts and Culture. For this festival, we worked with renowned and emerging children’s theatre companies that are exploratory in nature and who are ever ready to challenge pre-conceptions.

Our long standing experience in presenting festivals and events dedicated to children is the very impetus for building on the growth of Children’s Theatre and the Arts, and this brand new festival further empowers us to realise our vision of providing a culturally enriched life to children living in Singapore.
