This June, ACT 3 Drama Academy is inspired by the world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to bring children something they have never experienced before. Four workshops, four age groups, each one its own world. Each one waiting.

A tiny story about hope, waiting, and finding.
The shop is cosy and full of promise. The Keeper has been saving something wrapped and wonderful, and today is the day it finally gets opened. Your child leans in. The wrapper rustles. Something extraordinary is inside. Then, in one small startling moment, the surprise is gone. Somewhere in the world of the shop, a trail of clues is waiting. The only way to find what is missing is to search together, slowly, carefully, with every sense wide open.
In class, you and your child are in the story from the first moment to the last. You follow sound trails, discover sensory props to touch and hold, and move through the world together, near and far, up and under, piecing the story back together clue by clue. It is warm, playful, and full of the particular magic that happens when a young child and their parent are genuinely, completely in something together
What your child discovers:
• What it feels like to be inside a story: to lean in, to wonder, and to find that their voice and body can make things happen in the world around them
• How to focus on something together with you, building the kind of shared attention that is the earliest foundation of listening, curiosity, and creative confidence
• How to move through a space with purpose and delight, under, over, near, far, building spatial awareness through play rather than instruction
• How to experience a complete story arc, from beginning through problem to resolution, and feel in their whole body what it means for a story to end well

One rule. One mistake. What happens next is up to them.
The room belongs to someone very busy and very brilliant. Inventions line every surface. Machines hum with almost-readiness. There is one rule in this maker’s lab: the red button must not be pressed until everyone agrees. Then, in one terrible accidental moment, the Maker’s apprentice catches it. The lab whirls to life. Something is being made, too much of it, too fast, far too noisy. The Maker is not here. The apprentice cannot fix it alone. The children are the only ones who can work out what to do. What happens in that room is entirely, completely, up to them.
In class, children are inside the story for the whole session, moving at their own pace and following where the drama takes them. They speak in role, move through the world with real purpose, and discover that the story goes wherever they decide to take it. It is loud in the best moments, still in the best moments, and completely alive throughout. At the end, parents come back in for the last thirty minutes to find out what their children decided, how the story ended, and to share in a short performance of everything the class brought to life.

The factory needs a chorus. It has chosen yours.
The factory is reopening its doors for the first time in years. The chorus must be ready when it does. The children who walk in on day one have been chosen: songs to learn, choreography to master, a sound to build together, and the clock is already running. For the older children, the Maker wants something more. Original songs and routines, built from scratch, that have never been performed before. By the end of the week, this chorus must be something the factory is proud to put in front of the world.
In class the week is joyful, busy, and genuinely exciting from day one. Children learn musical theatre songs and bring them alive through character and performance. They build choreography that gets more thrilling every single day. They discover what happens to a group of individual children when they start to move, sing, and land together as one chorus. For the older children, the week goes further: they create original songs and routines that belong entirely to them, building something from nothing and performing it with full commitment by the end of the week.
What your child discovers :
• What their voice can do when it is given real songs, real characters, and a real reason to sing: musical theatre unlocks expression that children carry with them long after the curtain comes down
• What it feels like when a group of people commit to the same thing at the same moment: there is nothing quite like it, and children who feel it once look for it for the rest of their lives
• How to hold their place in choreography while staying fully present to the people around them: precision and connection, practised through pure joy
• That the confidence built in a chorus is different from any other kind: it comes not from standing out but from knowing exactly where you belong and choosing to be fully there
