June 2026 Young Speakers Workshop

The ability to take what you think and put it into words that make people stop and listen is one of the most consequential skills a person can have. It can be taught. This June, ACT 3 Drama Academy teaches it. Two workshops for children ages 6 to 14, built around finding your ideas and learning to give them words.

Your child is already full of thoughts. What they noticed on the way to school. What they think is unfair. Why their favourite thing is their favourite thing. This workshop is where those thoughts find their shape.

This I Know is three days of helping young children do what they love most. Talk about the things that matter to them, and learn how to say it in a way that makes people stop and really listen.

On the final day, parents are invited to a warm sharing session. Each child steps up and shares what they have been working on. It is a child saying something real, to people who love them, with a new kind of clarity.

The ideas are always there.
This is where they learn to give them words.

Your child will leave knowing how to:

• Tell a story with a point
Not just what happened. Why it matters. Children learn to shape their experiences into stories that hold from beginning to end.

• Describe what they know
Every child is an expert in something. They learn to explain it so clearly that someone who knows nothing about it suddenly understands.

• Say what they think and why
Having an opinion is easy. Explaining it is the skill. Children learn to stand behind what they think and give it a reason.

• Speak to a room, not at it
The difference between talking and being heard. Children discover what it feels like when people are genuinely listening.

Terms and conditions

Ask most children what they think about something, really think, and they’ll go quiet. Not because they have nothing to say. Because no one has ever helped them work out what it is they actually want to say.

This I Believe is five days of doing exactly that. Children arrive with thoughts they’ve never said out loud. They leave with an idea that is entirely theirs, found, shaped, and delivered in their own words, to a room full of people who came to listen.

Every child leaves with a filmed record of their talk. On the final day, parents are invited in to watch them deliver it live. It is the moment when everything they have worked on becomes real.

Some children just need someone to ask the right question.
Five days here, and they’ll be asking it themselves.

Your child will leave knowing how to:

• Find an idea worth standing behind
Not a topic. An idea. Something they genuinely believe, that they can articulate, defend, and call their own.

• Stay steady when it gets hard
Unexpected questions. A room full of people. The moment when the script runs out. They’ll know what to do.

• Give their thinking a shape
How to open in a way that makes people lean in. How to build a thought. How to end somewhere that matters.

• Speak because they mean it
Not to impress. Not because they were asked. Because they have something to say and they know how to say it.
