ACT 3 International with Vicky Ireland

All On A Summer’s Day

a companion piece to Shakespeare’s ‘fairytale’, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”

Singapore and UK

For ages 7 to 12
May 24 to 28, 2016
Drama Centre Visitors Centre
Running Time: 60 minutes

“Shakespeare wrote a vast body of work, and like an ocean, it can be approached from the shallows, allowing young children to explore, have fun and move forwards until they are ready to become truly immersed in the wisdom, beauty and drama of his writing. Even the youngest children can have their lives transformed by seeing a Shakespeare play.” – Vicky Ireland

Sharing this vision with Vicky, who directs our talented Singaporean cast, we will present a related tale to the famous romantic comedy and give our young audiences a highly palatable taste of Beginning Shakespeare. Our story is about the Little Indian Prince, now all grown up, and what happens to him when he meets the Shoemaker’s daughter, Phoebe. Find out how they are intertwined with the world of Fairies and Elves, with Carrot and Compost, who are on a mission for the Fairy Queen, Titania, and with Oberon’s fairies, led by Puck, hot on their heels to thwart the mission. Who saves the day in the end?

“It is a wonderful step up into the world of the Bard. This companion play with its comedy, wit and adventure will sweep young audiences into an imagined world with universal lessons to begin their great love affair with great writers, stories and literature.”
