We will delight and excite the very young to the 7 year-olds with twisted tales of The Elves and The Shoemaker by The Brothers Grimm. For the 8 to 10s, a musical blend of two stories – The Elves and the Shoemaker and Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol – will get them laughing out loud at the shenanigans of the elves of Christmas Past, Present and Future. Lastly, for the teens, we will test their acting chops with a horror-inspired Christmas caper of sorts!

Shoo Shoes

Welcome to the Shoemaker’s Workshop! Join our Shoemaker as she creates colourful shoes in all shapes and sizes. From boots to ballet slippers, watch how she creates different characters with each pair of shoes. This 45-minute interactive Parent and Child workshop will have your child and you become the elves who have come to work for the Shoemaker. Through a combination of hands-on activities peppered with music, movement, storytelling and sensory play, let our Shoemaker take you into a world of shoes and imagine all that shoes can do and can be!

Barefoot

A long, long time ago, elves went around barefoot. They enjoyed doing everything without shoes – gardening, running on muddy trails, feeling the prickly grass under their soles and getting sand in between their toes. But sometimes, the ground gets too hot or too cold, and stepping on jagged rocks or slipping on wet ground is never fun.

Come and join this one-hour highly-interactive workshop as our Drama Teacher tells the story of an elf’s discovery of shoes! It will be an imaginative and sensorial time as you and your child romp around barefoot whilst following the adventure of the elves in their discovery.

For the elves, Christmas is the most busiest time of the year. They cheerfully go all around the town secretly doing good deeds for the people, without ever asking for anything in return. One day, a kind shoemaker spots the elves looking oh so hungry and cold. If only there was a way to thank these little helpers…

In this week-long workshop inspired by the story of The Elves and the Shoemaker, your child will not only learn how to use basic Drama tools like role playing and group work, he will also take away the most important lesson during this festive time – the gift of giving. At the end of the week, watch your child perform in front of a live audience as our Shoemaker throws a wonderful Christmas party for all!

On a cold winter night, the lives of two shoemakers – one rich and greedy, the other poor and kind – are swapped when a magical wind, bearing fairies, blows through their town. The next morning, the rich shoemaker wakes up with nothing and the poor shoemaker has a large factory full of hardworking elves. Whatever will they do with their newfound lives? Will they learn what it means to be a rich man and a poor man?

A Mixed-Up Pantomime

In this wacky twisted musical sung to the tunes of timeless Christmas carols, Ebenezer Scrooge is a rich, stingy film producer who absolutely hates the season of giving, sharing and caring. One day, he decides to make a big budget film and hires elf actors who each demand a pair of shoes as payment. Obliging them, he visits the only shoemaker in town, Charles Shoo, a poor but kind hearted soul. Taking advantage of Charles’ kindness, Ebenezer doesn’t reward him for the shoes that he makes. As punishment, the elves of Christmas past, present and future appear and take both Scrooge and Shoo on a reflecting journey of their lives only to reveal a shocking past!!

Be prepared to hum and sing along in this amusing tale about the importance of love, family, kindness, generosity and compassion.
