Drawing inspiration from the garden and the story, The Baobab Tree, children will explore with Drama tools like frozen images and improvisation to create their own stories about nature.
Children are encouraged to use their five senses to connect with their environment – listening to different sounds, taking in the surroundings, feeling different textures and smelling nature. They will then use this sensorial experience to hone their creative writing skills, collaborate in small groups and use their imagination and creativity to pen a letter to Nature.
At the last 15 minutes of the workshop, the children will share their writings to their peers and family members.
During the 3-hour long workshop, the children will learn to:
- Build communication skills through verbal expression of thoughts and ideas
- Use physicality to express ideas, suggestions and storytelling
- Engage in cooperative dramatic play
- Collaborate with others to carry out tasks
- Build self confidence to express ideas and thoughts in communicating ways to conserve and protect the environment
