Originally part of a book of folk tales, The Enormous Turnip was written by Aleksey Tolstoy. It is a story which reminds us that if we all work together, we can accomplish anything.

Up, Down, Turn Around

Welcome to the Farm where all kinds of fruits and vegetables are planted and harvested! Join our newly recruited farmer as she learns how string beans grow UP, turnips burrow DOWN and tomatoes twine ALL AROUND!

In this multi-sensorial performative workshop scripted to an engaging narrative, you and your child will enjoy GROWING together with the different plants up, down and all around with the help of the bright yellow sun, the rain, and lots of love and care. With a quirky soundscape, charming songs and rhyming text, the session will end with a bout of free play amongst the harvested farm.

Green Thumbs

A farmer gets a plot of land but doesn’t know what to do with it. Should she plant some fruits? What about some vegetables? Did you say turnips?! Oh, there’s just so many things to do! Come help the farmer grow a bountiful garden! Who knows? You may just unearth your green thumbs!

This highly engaging performative workshop will start off with Drama warm-ups and activities that will get everyone up and going. Then, sit back, take a breather and watch our farmer perform and tell the story. After that, you and your child will explore and play as, you guessed it, farmers! Till the soil, dig up the dirt, drop the seeds, water the earth, feed the plants and wait…… Then pull, pluck, cut and have a wonderful feast of fruits and vegetables at the end!!

They are just about to give up when the tiny little mice come up with a splendid plan…..

Turnip Twist

In this twisted version based on The Enormous Turnip, experience what it is like to be on the other side of the fence – through the eyes of the turnip! A little baby turnip starts out as a seed growing amongst his many other brothers and sisters. One day, his adventure begins when a strong wind blows through the land. It takes the little seed on an exciting adventure finally landing him on a farm. With food and water, he begins to grow bigger and bigger until he catches the eyes of the farmers. Will the enormous turnip be turned into soup? Or will he give his two cents and live a long root-ful life?
