Learning Journey Primary 2026

By November 18, 2025November 21st, 2025Arts Education

Bring your students to ACT 3 Theatre for an immersive two-hour learning journey that blends live performance, reflection, and experiential learning. Designed for Primary 1 to 6, each 2-in-1 Learning Journey helps students connect with ideas, values, and emotions through story and character.

Every session includes a 30-minute theatre performance, a 30-minute behind-the-scenes question-and-answer segment with the cast, and a 60-minute guided drama workshop. Students watch, think, and participate as they explore how drama and theatre deepen understanding, empathy, and self-expression.

A timeless folktale retold through imaginative theatre, Jack and the Beanstalk follows a curious boy who trades his family’s cow for magic beans. His bold choice leads to a sky-high adventure that tests honesty, fairness, and responsibility.

In this lively performance, students watch Jack face the unknown, meet new characters, and learn about consequence and accountability. Through expressive movement, voice, and rhythm, the story keeps young audiences engaged while prompting them to think about action and outcome.

The question-and-answer segment that follows invites students to ask about the story, the characters, and the staging process. They hear from the performers and discover how the story came to life on stage.

During the 60-minute drama workshop, students unpack the central themes of fairness, consequence, and curiosity. They step into key moments of the story to explore how choices shape outcomes and how true wealth comes from kindness. Through dramatic role-play and shared discussion, they examine what drives Jack’s decisions and how these choices affect others. The session encourages personal reflection and teamwork as students translate story themes into expressive movement and dialogue.

Learning Outcomes:
• Understand sequence, character motivation, and consequence
• Build communication and cooperation skills
• Strengthen imagination and expressive movement

Outsider  is a dynamic three-actor performance exploring social dynamics, exclusion, and the ways unkind behaviour can form a cycle. The story follows an individual who is gradually pushed out for being “different.” When they form new friendships with other outsiders, the group feels safe—until fear and insecurity lead the individual to repeat the same unkind behaviours they once experienced. Eventually, they must confront the impact of their choices and consider how to break patterns of exclusion.

Through clear, expressive physical storytelling and age-appropriate staging, Outsider helps students recognise how everyday behaviours—teasing, ignoring, whispering, choosing sides—can deeply affect others. The performance encourages reflection on empathy, fairness, and the importance of speaking up.

Following the show, a question-and-answer session allows students to talk with the cast about the creative process: how characters were developed, how movement represents emotions, and how theatre can explore complex social themes in a way that is accessible for audiences.

A 60-minute drama workshop then builds on the performance. Through guided improvisation and small-group activities, students examine ideas of belonging, leadership, and responsibility. They explore how simple actions can include or exclude others, practise empathy by stepping into different roles, and learn how positive choices strengthen a community.

Learning Outcomes:
• Understand social exclusion, kindness, and personal responsibility through drama
• Strengthen comprehension of motivation, consequence, and emotional impact
• Build confidence in communication, collaboration, and supportive peer interaction

Adapted from George Orwell’s allegory, Animal Farm explores fairness, leadership, and moral choice. When the animals overthrow their human master to create a new order, they believe they have built an equal society. Over time, ambition and control begin to divide them.

The performance combines physical storytelling, symbolic imagery, and ensemble work to capture the rise and fall of this imagined world. It prompts students to think about responsibility, equality, and integrity.

In the open question-and-answer segment, students engage directly with the performers. They may ask about how characters were built, how emotions were portrayed, or what goes into making a theatre piece. This exchange helps them connect to the creative and collaborative nature of drama.

During the 60-minute drama workshop, students unpack the story’s themes of power, justice, and accountability. Through role-play and improvisation, they explore leadership, choice, and consequence, examining how values guide behaviour and how communities respond to change. The session helps students connect the moral lessons of the play to their own experiences of fairness and teamwork.

Learning Outcomes:
• Examine cause, consequence, and moral reasoning
• Develop collaboration and reflective thinking
• Build expressive and analytical skills through performance
