The Three Billy Goats Gruff
In the Norwegian fairy tale The Three Billy Goats Gruff, three billy goats wish to cross a bridge to reach a meadow full of fresh grass, but a hungry troll living under the bridge tries to stop them. The smallest goat outsmarts the troll by promising that his bigger brother will come next, and the middle goat follows suit. When the biggest goat arrives, he boldly confronts the troll, knocking him into the river. This story highlights the values of cleverness, bravery, and teamwork.
The Child Who Cried Wolf
In this classic fable, a young boy repeatedly tricks the villagers into thinking a wolf is attacking his flock. When a wolf actually appears, the villagers do not believe his cries for help, and the wolf devours the sheep. This story teaches the importance of honesty and the consequences of lying.
The Rainbow Fish
In The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister, a beautiful fish with shimmering scales learns an important lesson about sharing. Initially proud and unwilling to share his shiny scales with others, he finds himself lonely as his fellow fish avoid him. After seeking advice from a wise octopus, he begins to share his scales, discovering that true happiness comes from generosity and friendship.
