Theatre and Drama Excursion
for Pre-Schools and Kindergartens

The essence of all our Excursion programmes is the full and complete engagement of the child, developing in them the important skills needed to nurture themselves physically, emotionally and socially.

Our Theatre Programme and one-off Drama Workshops are specially designed for your preschoolers where creative play is introduced to develop the imagination through movement and voice. Inspired by engaging and delightful stories, our programmes incorporate watching to dramatising and retelling interpretations confidently.

PERFORMANCE

The Caged Parrot

Combining a mix of art forms – storytelling, dramatisation, dance, song, and colourful costumes – The Caged Parrot is a Persian folk tale about a merchant who traps a wild parrot and keeps her in a beautiful cage in his big house. Thinking that she will be happy living there, he offers her good food and treats her well. One day, she requests that he passes a message to her parrot brothers and sisters deep in the forest. After going through a long and tiring journey, and meeting different birds along the way, the merchant realises that even though the parrot is happy, all she wants is to fly freely in the wild as herself – a wild parrot.

During the workshop, your students will participate in fun and engaging activities that will help them explore the topics of HAPPINESS, FREEDOM and KEEPING PROMISES from the perspectives of the merchant and the caged parrot. Not only that, they will also get to discover the amazing birds in the story – parrot, peacock, and kingfisher – and explore their unique traits and characteristics through movement and sound.

DRAMA WORKSHOPS

Three Bears

Inspired by Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Far away in the deep forest, Papa, Mama and Baby Bear live carefree lives free of human contact. But what happens when, one lovely sunny day, a young child invades their home and creates chaos?!

Our uniquely designed 90-minute workshop will begin with engaging Drama warm ups and activities, connected to the story, that will prepare and set your students to express themselves creatively and imaginatively. After a retelling of the twisted narrative, our Drama Teachers will encourage your students to use their bodies to move freely in the space and explore the different characters through the use of role play and their voice.

To top it all off, with the accompanying use of music, simple props and costumes, watch as your students step into the shoes of the bear family and teach Goldilocks a thing or two about truthfulness, responsibility and mutual respect for others.

Wild Things

Inspired by Where The Wild Things Are

Wild Things is a story about a child named Max who enjoys causing mischief at home and is sent to his room without any supper. There, he discovers a magical jungle which takes him on a sailing adventure to an island where he meets the Wild Things. Max manages to tame the beasts by staring into their eyes and he is crowned King of the Wild Things. However, Max begins to feel lonely missing home. When he decides to escape the island, the Wild Things give chase. But Max is too quick for them and he returns to his bedroom where a hot supper is waiting for him.

In this 90-minute workshop, we will begin with Drama warm ups and activities connected to the story. This will prepare and set your students to express themselves creatively and imaginatively. After a retelling of the twisted narrative, our Drama Teachers will encourage your students to use their bodies to move freely in the space and explore the different characters through the use of role play and their voice.

With the accompanying use of music, simple props and costumes, our workshop will provide your students opportunities to explore the central theme of imagination and the many places it can bring us.
