The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Immerse your nursery students in the colourful and transformative world of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle through this dynamic 90-minute drama workshop.

Initiating with an interactive performative storytelling session, children will be drawn into the journey of the ravenous caterpillar as he munches his way through an array of delightful foods. As the narrative unfolds, students will engage in role-playing activities, bringing to life the various foods, stages of the caterpillar, and the final majestic butterfly. Through movement exercises, rhythmic chants, and tactile prop interactions, children will not only deepen their understanding of the story but also enhance their motor skills, expressiveness, and team dynamics.

The Gruffalo

In this imaginative and engaging drama workshop, children will dive into the whimsical world of “The Gruffalo”, a beloved children’s story written by Julia Donaldson.

Starting with a lively reading of the tale, students will be introduced to the woods and its captivating characters. Through a series of interactive drama activities, including role-playing, voice modulation, and movement exercises, the children will embody the mouse, the Gruffalo, and other forest creatures, helping them not only to understand the storyline better but also to develop their confidence, creativity, and collaborative skills.

Props and simple costumes will enhance their imaginative play, and the workshop will culminate in a short performance where students can showcase their interpretation of the story, ensuring a memorable experience for all.

Giraffes Can’t Dance:
Dramatic Rhythms and Moves Workshop

Dive into the heart of the African savannah with “Giraffes Can’t Dance,” a heart warming tale penned by Giles Andreae.

Over a span of 90 minutes, our workshop seamlessly intertwines drama and rhythm, inviting children to journey with Gerald, the giraffe who believes he can’t dance. We commence with a vibrant tableau exercise, where children freeze in poses reflecting the various animals and their dances.

As the narrative comes alive, participants delve into character development, adopting the personas of the jungle animals and employing voice modulation to depict their unique personalities. With the aid of percussion instruments, they explore world beats, letting each rhythm influence their character’s movements and expressions.

Emphasizing both individual self-expression and ensemble collaboration, the workshop crescendos into an improvised performance, where children recreate the jungle ball, championing the ethos that everyone, indeed, can dance in their own special way.
